"The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires."
- William Ward

Whichever one I am, let me know. ;-)

October 18 , 2008
I recently completed an oil painting of LAndscape Arch, Utah, in Winter. I've documented my progress from start to finish, on flm. I've put together a small tutorial of sorts, or more accurately, a demonstration on my personal approach to this painting, based on my technique. Its the first oil painting I've done in five years, so this is, at its worst, an example of to what degree I've lost my traditional skills and, at best, a glimpse into how I work. In no way do I claim it as the right or wrong way to execute an oil painting. I share this knowledge in hopes of inspiring others to create their own paintings and to formulate their own techniques and to learn from both my success and, in this unfortunate case, my failures. So, go paint!

Cheers
